5 reasons why virtual events are where it’s at right now
5 reasons why virtual events are where it’s at right now:
1. Incase it wasn’t obvious haha…connection. Whether it is in person or virtual, human connection keeps our mental health strong.
2. Face to face interaction, eye contact and a feeling of closeness and community increase our feel good hormones, especially oxytocin! Oxytocin is the chemical that produces bonding and trust and is one of the “happy hormones”. One of the biggest things we have been missing over the past year is closeness, connection and physical touch. While the latter may not be an option for all, we can still create a form of loving community and trust via virtual events, and by increasing our hormone production we are actually boosting our immune systems, and well, saving our lives.
3.You can join from the comfort of your own home, wherever you are in the world!! I’ve been to a few different virtual events the past few months and I have got to say being in the comfort and coziness of my own couch, having my own bathroom right there, getting all cuddled into my blankets, having access to snacks and tea etc has been such a treat, like a little day time in home retreat!
4. Safety! I know we are all on our own spectrum of what feels safe and comfortable when it comes to being in person and seeing people out in public these days, so being behind the screen in your own space keeps us all comfortable and safe at this time :)
5. It’s better than nothing. Honestly, I know we all want life to “go back to normal” in certain ways, like being out in our favorite coffee shop, without masks on and hugging friends and people in our community when we bump into them downtown…but that isn't the reality right now. So honestly, attending a virtual event, I have found, is better than nothing. At this time, it feels so so important to have whatever kind of connection and create whatever kind of community we can, even if it’s meeting new people via a virtual event. And what a treat to look forward to meeting your new friends in person down the road :)
“I attended one of Micayla’s Vulnerability Workshops and I have to say it was truly a magical experience. Micayla is such a beautiful human, inside & out. Her ability to hold space for others & help others see their innate beauty is truly a gift. I went into the workshop feeling anxious and left the workshop feeling loved, connected, beautiful, seen, heard and accepted. ”
